Common questions about SpeakNow.
Is my data safe?
Yes. Your sessions are stored securely in Supabase with row-level security. Your payment information is handled by Stripe and never stored on our servers.
Can I use SpeakNow on my phone?
Yes — SpeakNow works in mobile browsers. For the best experience, use Chrome or Safari on a recent device. There are no immediate plans for a dedicated mobile app, though it is something we may explore in the future.
Can I practise languages other than English?
Currently SpeakNow supports English only. Additional languages are planned for the future.
What AI model does SpeakNow use?
SpeakNow uses OpenAI's realtime voice model for live conversation and feedback generation.
Can I delete my account?
Yes. Go to Settings → Profile → Danger Zone and click "Delete your Account". This permanently removes all your data and cancels any active subscription.
Why is the AI not responding?
If the AI goes quiet, try these steps in order:
1.Check your microphone — make sure the browser has permission to use your microphone. Look for a microphone icon in your browser's address bar.
2.Refresh the page — a simple reload fixes most temporary connection hiccups.
3.Check your internet connection — a slow or unstable connection can interrupt the voice stream.
4.Try a supported browser — Chrome and Edge work best. Safari on iOS is also supported.
If the problem persists, end the session and start a new one. Contact us if it keeps happening.
Can I pause a session?
There is no pause button — sessions are live and continuous, much like a real conversation. If you need to stop, simply end the session using the button at the top of the screen. Your progress and feedback up to that point are saved, and you can start a fresh session whenever you are ready.
How do I change my email address?
Go to Settings → Profile and update your email address in the account details section. You will receive a confirmation link at your new address before the change takes effect.
What if my internet drops mid-session?
If your connection drops, the session will disconnect automatically. Any speaking minutes used up to that point will be counted — the same as if you had ended the session normally.
To resume practising, refresh the page and start a new session. If you experience frequent drops, try moving closer to your router or switching to a wired connection.
Is there a refund policy?
We do not offer refunds. Here is what that means in practice:
•Monthly plan — you are billed at the start of each billing period. If you cancel, your access continues until the end of that period and you will not be charged again. No refund is issued for any unused days in the current period.
•Annual plan — you are billed upfront for the full year. If you cancel before the year is up, your access continues until the end of the annual period. We are unable to refund the remaining months.
We encourage you to use the free 20-minute trial to make sure SpeakNow is a good fit before subscribing. If you have a billing concern, please contact us and we will do our best to help.
Can I share SpeakNow with my team?
Speaking practice sessions are personal — each session is tied to your account and cannot be shared with or transferred to another user.
If your team members would like to practise, they are welcome to sign up for their own individual accounts and take advantage of the free 20-minute trial.
