Job Interview Track

Practise job interviews with an AI interviewer personalised to your CV and the target job — with competency scores after every session.

Overview

The Job Interview track gives you a private AI interviewer that reads your CV and the job description, then asks the questions that matter most for that specific role.

Unlike other SpeakNow tracks, every session is personalised to your documents — there is no fixed lesson list. Practise as many times as you like with different job descriptions.

Access it by clicking Job Interview in the sidebar.

No Formal Assessment

Job Interview uses a practice-first model with no separate placement assessment. Every session ends with a structured competency rubric, so you always know how you performed.

Getting Started

1.Open the Job Interview page from the sidebar.

2.Upload your CV as a PDF using the drag-and-drop field, or paste your CV text directly into the text area.

3.Paste the target job description.

4.Click Confirm & Prepare — you will see a summary of your documents.

5.Click Start Interview to begin the session.

How a Session Works

1.Introduction — your AI interviewer briefly introduces the session and the role.

2.Interview questions — the AI asks 6–8 questions across three types:

- Behavioural (STAR-based): "Tell me about a time when…"

- Competency: "How would you approach…?" or "Walk me through…"

- Motivational: "Why this role?" or "Where do you see yourself in three years?"

3.Closing — the interviewer formally closes the session.

4.Competency feedback — structured scores across five dimensions with specific tips.

5 Competency Dimensions

After each session you receive a score out of 10 for:

Clarity — articulation, conciseness, and avoidance of filler words.

Relevance — answers address the question directly with specific examples.

Structure — logical use of the STAR framework: Situation → Task → Action → Result.

Confidence — composed delivery, minimal hesitation, positive self-presentation.

Professionalism — appropriate register, professional vocabulary, and courteous tone.

STAR Technique

Many interview questions are behavioural ("Tell me about a time when…"). The STAR technique is the gold standard for answering them:

Situation — describe the context briefly.

Task — explain what your responsibility was.

Action — describe the specific steps you took.

Result — state the outcome and what you learned.

If your answers lack STAR structure, the AI will note this in its feedback and suggest how to improve.

Competency Feedback Card

After each session a structured feedback card appears in the Review tab showing:

Overall score badge — Strong / Developing / Focus Area based on your average across all five dimensions.

Per-dimension progress bars — each of the five competencies scored out of 10 with a tier label.

STAR framework reference — a reminder of the Situation → Task → Action → Result structure to guide your next practice.

Strengths — specific behaviours you demonstrated well.

Top improvement — the single highest-priority area to address next.

Motivational note — a short coaching observation to guide your next session.

Tips for the Best Results

Upload your CV as a PDF for the most accurate text extraction, or paste the full text — the more detail the AI has, the more tailored the questions will be.

Use a real job description from a current job posting, not a generic role description.

After each session, review the dimension scores and focus your next practice on the lowest-scoring area.

Try the same job description multiple times to build consistency.
